eat for a week fundraiser

The National Federation of the Blind of Greater Springfield Chapter Inc. is proud to announce our annual “Eat for a Week” fundraiser. This important initiative generates essential funding for programs and services that support, empower, and uplift blind individuals throughout the Greater Springfield community. By participating, you not only gain the opportunity to win an exciting and useful prize package, but you also contribute directly to work that expands opportunity, promotes equality, and helps blind individuals live the lives they want.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer membership organization, our chapter is deeply rooted in community service, advocacy, and transformative action. We are part of a nationwide movement driven by blind individuals, their families, and allies who believe in raising expectations and building a world where blindness is understood not as a limitation, but as a characteristic that does not define one’s future. Through our collective commitment, we challenge outdated misconceptions about blindness and replace them with empowerment, confidence, and opportunity.

About the “Eat for a Week” Fundraiser

The “Eat for a Week” fundraiser provides participants with the chance to enter for an opportunity to win a prize package designed to support a full week’s worth of meals. The selected winner will receive a collection of seven gift cards, offering a combination of grocery and restaurant options.

This fundraiser has become a valued tradition in our chapter, bringing together long-time members, new supporters, families, and community partners in a shared effort to expand resources and awareness. While the fundraiser is fun and inviting, its impact is deeply meaningful. Every entry helps strengthen the programs we provide and moves us closer to a community where blind people enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else.

Your involvement directly supports our efforts to raise expectations, nurture leadership, and encourage blind individuals to pursue their dreams with confidence and independence.

Why Support Us?

Your participation in the “Eat for a Week” fundraiser helps advance the mission of the National Federation of the Blind of Greater Springfield Chapter Inc., a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer membership organization committed to transforming the lives of blind individuals through advocacy, education, community engagement, and empowerment.

Our work is grounded in the core belief of the National Federation of the Blind:

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of our members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines us or our future and every day we raise the expectations for blind people because we recognize that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

This belief guides everything we do. Your support helps us put these words into action by enabling us to:

  • Award scholarships that support educational and career advancement
  • Promote Braille literacy, ensuring full access to reading and writing
  • Increase access to assistive technology and training
  • Offer mentorship, leadership development, and peer support networks
  • Provide parent and youth programs, skill-building activities, and community events
  • Advocate for equal access in education, transportation, employment, technology, and public services

When you support this fundraiser, you help ensure that blind individuals in Greater Springfield have the resources, tools, and opportunities needed to pursue their dreams, participate fully in community life, and overcome barriers rooted in misunderstanding or low expectations.
